Thanks so much to Nick for managing our kitchen remodel. We had our cabinets re-faced, added top ceiling cabinets and an appliance garage, replaced range microwave/“hood” with an outdoor-venting range hood, and replaced countertops/backsplash. Nick was highly involved throughout the process to ensure everything was complete, high-quality and to our satisfaction. He selected excellent subcontractors for the electrical, drywall, countertop, backsplash, and cabinet work. Attached a couple “before” pictures and the rest are after. Thanks again Nick for a fantastic project!

Excellence and Quality are some of the words that come to mind when talking about Holland Builders Co. My wife and I had some water damage in our house and Nick took care of us. Everything was fixed and looks better than ever. From the flooring that is honestly one of the best I have seen, to the great drywall work that I can’t even find where the damage was. Nick made sure everything was done right and will last. He went above and beyond to make sure no corners were cut. He lined up the workers so everything was done in as quickly as he could. All the work was check over to make sure it was done right. And they gave the same quality of work like they were working on their own houses. Nick is a great guy and has a ton of knowledge of construction. I wouldn’t hesitate to call Holland Builders Co. for any work I needed done.

I can't say enough positive things about Holland Builders. From the moment Nick walked into our home to help us with a major flooring overhaul, I was impressed with his professionalism, knowledge, and dedication to getting the job done right. He quickly assessed our needs and, without hesitation, ripped up our old flooring, ensuring the process was smooth and efficient. But what really stood out was his willingness to go above and beyond in helping us navigate the entire construction process. Whether it was offering expert advice on materials, design, or handling unexpected challenges, he made sure we felt confident every step of the way. Holland Builders is not only skilled but also approachable and genuinely interested in making sure we were happy with every decision. It's rare to find a company that combines quality craftsmanship with outstanding customer service, and that's exactly what we found with Nick! If you're looking for a company that you can trust to treat your home like their own, I highly recommend Holland Builders. They've made a potentially stressful project feel effortless, and I look forward to working with them again in the future!

NEED ANSWERS?

Frequently Asked Questions

We’re here to answer your most common questions about our repair and contracting services.

What permits are required for kitchen remodeling in Orlando?

In Orlando, most kitchen remodeling projects require permits, especially when changes involve electrical work, plumbing modifications, removing walls, or altering the layout. The City of Orlando typically requires permits for new electrical circuits, plumbing line relocations, and structural modifications. Minor cosmetic changes like replacing cabinets without altering plumbing or electrical may not require permits. At Holland Builders Co, we handle the entire permitting process, ensuring your kitchen renovation complies with all Orlando building codes and regulations.

How does Holland Builders handle the permitting process for Orlando kitchen renovations?

At Holland Builders Co, we manage the complete permitting process for your Orlando kitchen renovation. Our experienced team prepares all necessary documentation, submits applications to the City of Orlando Permitting Division, schedules required inspections, and ensures compliance with local regulations. With our established relationships with Orlando permitting officials and thorough understanding of local requirements, we navigate the process efficiently to prevent delays in your kitchen remodeling project. This comprehensive permit management is included in our services, saving you time and reducing stress.

How long does the permitting process typically take for kitchen renovations in Orlando?

The permitting timeline for Orlando kitchen renovations typically ranges from 2-4 weeks, depending on the scope of your project and current department workload. Simple projects may receive permits more quickly, while complex renovations involving structural changes might take longer for approval. Holland Builders Co incorporates realistic permitting timeframes into your project schedule and can often expedite the process thanks to our familiarity with Orlando's permitting procedures. We'll keep you informed throughout the permitting phase to ensure transparent communication about your project timeline.

What kitchen materials work best in Orlando's humid climate?

For Orlando kitchens, we recommend moisture-resistant materials that perform well in our humid climate. For cabinetry, we suggest solid wood or high-quality plywood construction with proper sealing rather than particleboard which can swell with moisture. Quartz countertops resist humidity better than some natural stones. Porcelain tile flooring offers excellent moisture resistance and durability. We also recommend mold-resistant drywall for kitchen renovations and proper ventilation systems to manage humidity. These material choices ensure your Orlando kitchen remains beautiful and functional despite Florida's challenging climate conditions.

How can we make our Orlando kitchen more energy-efficient during a remodel?

When remodeling your Orlando kitchen, we recommend several energy-efficient upgrades to combat Florida's heat and reduce utility costs. These include ENERGY STAR® rated appliances, LED lighting systems, properly insulated windows, and energy-efficient ventilation. We can install smart home systems that monitor energy usage and programmable thermostats to optimize cooling. For Orlando homes, we often recommend ceiling fans to improve air circulation and reduce air conditioning needs. Additionally, we can position windows and lighting to maximize natural light while minimizing heat gain, which is particularly important in Orlando's sunny climate.

What ventilation solutions do you recommend for Orlando kitchens?

For Orlando kitchens, we recommend powerful ventilation systems that effectively manage both cooking odors and Florida's high humidity. We typically install range hoods with at least 300 CFM (cubic feet per minute) capacity, with higher ratings for larger kitchens or gas cooktops. For Orlando's climate, we often recommend ducted systems that remove humid air completely rather than recirculating it. We also consider supplemental ventilation options like ceiling fans and properly positioned windows that create cross-ventilation. These solutions help maintain air quality and comfort while protecting your kitchen from moisture-related issues common in Orlando homes.

How does your approach differ when remodeling kitchens in Winter Park versus Lake Nona?

Our approach adapts to the distinct characteristics of different Orlando neighborhoods. In Winter Park, we often work with older homes featuring traditional or historic architecture, focusing on preserving original charm while incorporating modern amenities. These projects frequently involve addressing older infrastructure and working within established architectural styles. For Lake Nona kitchens, we typically design more contemporary spaces aligned with the area's newer construction and modern aesthetic. Lake Nona projects often incorporate smart home technology and open-concept designs. In both areas, we consider neighborhood trends and home values to ensure your kitchen renovation enhances your property's value appropriately.

How do you approach kitchen remodels in older Orlando homes versus newer constructions?

When renovating kitchens in older Orlando homes, we carefully assess existing systems, address potential structural issues, and preserve valuable architectural elements while updating functionality. These projects often involve upgrading outdated electrical and plumbing systems to meet current codes. We're experienced in creative solutions for common challenges in vintage Orlando homes, such as uneven floors or non-standard dimensions. For newer Orlando constructions, we focus more on customization and style upgrades rather than infrastructure improvements. Regardless of your home's age or a new home built on your lot, Holland Builders ensures all work meets current building codes while respecting your property's character and your specific needs.

Can you adapt your kitchen designs to match Mediterranean-style homes common in Orlando?

Absolutely! Holland Builders Co has extensive experience designing kitchens that complement the Mediterranean-style architecture prevalent throughout Orlando. We understand the distinctive elements of these homes—arched doorways, textured walls, warm color palettes, and ornate details. For Mediterranean-style kitchens, we often incorporate warm wood tones, decorative tile work, curved design elements, wrought iron accents, and stone surfaces. Our designers and custom home building experts can create a kitchen that honors these architectural traditions while incorporating modern functionality. Whether you want a kitchen that fully embraces Mediterranean aesthetics or one that subtly references these elements, we'll design a space that harmonizes perfectly with your Orlando home's architecture.

Do you work with local Orlando suppliers for kitchen remodeling materials?

Yes, Holland Builders Co has established strong relationships with numerous local Orlando suppliers for home remodel and kitchen remodeling materials. We partner with Central Florida cabinet shops, countertop fabricators, tile suppliers, appliance dealers, and specialty hardware stores. These local connections ensure we can offer competitive pricing, faster delivery times, and quality products specially selected for Orlando's climate conditions. Working with local vendors allows us to quickly address any supply issues and support our local economy. During the design process, we can arrange visits to local showrooms where you can see and touch materials firsthand before making selections for your Orlando kitchen.

What countertop materials do you recommend for Orlando kitchens?

For Orlando kitchens, we recommend several countertop options that perform well in our climate. Quartz composites offer excellent durability, resist moisture, and don't require sealing—making them perfect for Florida's humidity. Granite remains popular and performs well when properly sealed. For budget-conscious renovations, high-quality laminates have improved dramatically in recent years and offer good performance in Orlando homes. For eco-friendly options, recycled glass countertops provide both sustainability and humidity resistance. We source these materials from established Orlando suppliers who understand local conditions and can provide appropriate warranties. During our design consultation, we'll discuss the pros and cons of each option based on your specific needs and maintenance preferences.

Can we visit local showrooms to select materials for our Orlando kitchen remodel?

Absolutely! Holland Builders Co encourages clients to visit our network of local Orlando showrooms where you can see and touch materials firsthand. We can arrange guided visits to cabinet showrooms, countertop fabricators, tile shops, and appliance dealers throughout Central Florida. Our designer can accompany you to help coordinate selections if desired. We also maintain relationships with design centers that showcase multiple products in one location, making the selection process more convenient. These in-person visits help ensure you'll be completely satisfied with your material choices and allow you to support local Orlando businesses during your kitchen renovation.

Can you show us before and after photos of kitchen renovations similar to what we're planning in Orlando?

Absolutely! Holland Builders Co maintains an extensive portfolio of before-and-after kitchen transformations throughout Orlando. During our consultation, we can share photos of completed projects similar to your vision—whether you're planning a modern white kitchen, a traditional wood design, transform your bathroom, or a transitional style that blends elements of both. Our portfolio includes projects from various Orlando neighborhoods and different property types. These visual examples will help you envision the transformation possibilities for your space and demonstrate the quality craftsmanship that defines our work. We can also highlight specific features from different projects that might appeal to your taste and needs.
